Third-grade class raises money for K-9 vest

3rd grade raise money

The check for $500 came from the students themselves selling accessories and jewelry for a dollar each. The total raised by the class is $1,500.

The effort is to honor Jason Crisp and his K-9 partner Maros, who were both killed in the line of duty during a manhunt in Burke County in March of 2014.

“I think it’s amazing. They have worked so hard on this, you can tell,” said Amanda Crisp, Jason’s widow. “It means a lot.”

The check was presented to the Mooresville Police Department during a classroom celebration with songs and cake. North Carolina Highway Patrol, Morganton Police, and the US Forestery Service also attended to show support for the Crisp family.

Third-grader Audrey summed up her classmates feelings.

“I learned that you can help other people’s lives with the small stuff you do.”

The Annual K9 Support Wash at Dogtopia|  July 21st, 2012

The 3rd Annual K9 Support Dog Wash will be held Saturday, July 21 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Dogtopia
(616 Springbrook Drive, Charlotte)

Again this year, money will be raised for the CMPD K9 Unit. For a $10 donation your dog will get a bath that includes a shampoo, towel-dry, fragrant spritz and bandanna.

Last year we washed 113 dogs and raised $3,156.50 for the K9 unit. Our goal this year is $5,000 and I know we can do it with your help!

Looking to volunteer? We expect a large turnout again this year, so we are looking for volunteers who are interested in washing dogs or helping out in different ways. We’re also looking for towel donations. If you are interested in volunteering or donating items, please contact us and let us know!
